Volkswagen Think Blue Expo

BY Vicky du Toit

Volkswagen South Africa has introduced a holistic programme for environmentally responsible production manufacturing at its plant in Uitenhage.  Think Blue. Is VW’s global initiative that intends to address how individual mobility and sustainability can be harmonised.

In aid of raising awareness for VW staff, the Think Blue. Expo was held at the VW Uitenhage plant from the 4th to the 11th of September.

Driving into the VW plant one immediately notices the change in mindset.  “Think Blue” signage is clearly visible and VW employees are rallying between offices on their spiffy blue bicycles.

The Waste Trade Company, Ellies, The NMMM Solar Car, Rhino Group, Green Overall, Kestrel Renewable Energy and The Municipal Waste Exchange, are only a few examples of all who joined.
VW has set a target of reducing environmental impact at all its plants by 25% by 2018.
